ESIC uncovers new cases of coaching bug exploitation

Almost two years have passed since ESIC began investigating the situation with the use of the “coach bug”, but now the organization is ready to present new materials related to the fact that new variants of it have recently been discovered.

Specifically, ESIC discovered that there are a total of three versions of this bug. A total of 134 esports athletes were caught using them, while in September 2020, only 37 coaches were punished for cheating. It was determined that one variant of the bug gave the user a particularly significant advantage, allowing him to freely move around the map. Of course, ESIC plans to punish more severely those caught using it.

ESIC was able to establish that the first version of the bug, which made it possible to observe the map from a fixed point, was used by 84 trainers (including 37 people who had already been punished). Another 47 used the version that allows you to look at the map from a third person, and three more – free movement option.

In the near future, the organization should announce the specific names of the coaches and the punishments they will suffer. However, it is already known that one of these versions of the cheat was used by Damien "maLeK" Marcel and Louis "peacemaker" Tadeu.
