ESL and DreamHack announced a merger

In the last days of September, ESL and DreamHack announced a merger. The company that will be created as a result of the merger will be called ESL Gaming. Prior to this, the two esports organizations were subsidiaries of the Modern Times Group. Now the leadership of ESL Gaming will be taken over by Craig Levin and Ralf Reichert. The post of president of the company will be taken by Marcus Lindmark, who previously served as the executive director of DreamHack.

Levine commented on the creation of ESL Gaming as follows: “Through maximum collaboration and teamwork, bringing together the best creative and visionary minds in the world of esports, together we will continue to innovate by creating unique products and events.” ESL Gaming executives expect that the merger will be positive for both eSports fans and partners. At the same time, events that were previously held under the DreamHack brand will also continue to develop.

Another consequence of the merger of esports organizations will be layoffs. This has already been confirmed by a representative of ESL Gaming. He noted that the changes are related to new challenges that the company, like many, faced during the pandemic.
