ESL and FACEIT merge under Savvy Gaming Group

ESL and FACEIT, which host many events in modern CS:GO, were acquired by Savvy Gaming Group for a total of 1.5 billion.

SGG notes that the deal should not affect the tournament schedule or how the brands of both companies operate. In addition, no changes in their leadership are planned either. Savvy Gaming Group is known to receive support from the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, and its leader Brian Ward previously held a senior position in the management of Activision.

On the website of the united organization, called ESL FACEIT Group, information about its immediate plans has already been published. In particular, it is mentioned that one of its key goals will be the revitalization of the North American esports scene. It also plans to allocate additional funds to develop even more robust anti-cheat programs, as well as create more opportunities to support players starting their professional careers within the FACEIT Pro League structure.

ESL CEO Craig Levin notes that the merger of the two companies will help create a more favorable environment for all stakeholders: for the esports players themselves, for those who follow the matches, and for the organizers and sponsors of the events.
