ESL announced the lineup for IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020, and also talked about how the tournament will be held. The competition begins on November 6th with opening matches taking place in Europe and North America. Next week, from November 13, matches in smaller divisions (Asia and Oceania) will begin, and the final games will take place on November 22.
The largest prize fund – in the European division, where teams will have to compete for $150,000. In North America it is $70,000, and for Oceania and Asia – $30,000 each. The winners of the European and North American divisions, in addition to the cash prize, will receive the right to participate in the IEM Global Challenge.
Sixteen European teams will be divided into two groups, both containing teams from the top 5: Vitality and Natus Vincere in Group A and Heroic and Astralis in Group B. The four leaders in each of them will qualify for the playoffs. Due to the large number of participants, two matches will be played per day during the group stage. The opening match will be a confrontation between Vitality and Spirit, followed by FaZe and OG.
Eight teams will take part in the North American division, respectively, four will be able to advance to the playoffs – two from each group. Four teams will play in Asia and Oceania and will immediately compete according to the double elimination scheme.
