In the grand final of Dream Hack Open North America, held on July 3, the Extra Salt team defeated the Brazilian O PLANO and became the winner of the tournament. She will receive a significant part of the prize fund, as well as 100 points in the ESL Pro Tour ranking.
From the very beginning, Extra Salt were able to put strong pressure on their opponent, winning the first map (Vertigo) with a crushing score of 16 – 2, largely thanks to the successful actions of John "oSee" Om and Justin "FaNg" Coakley. On the second map (Dust2), the balance of power remained approximately the same, and Extra Salt easily won with a score of 16 – 9. On Overpass, the Brazilians managed to build a defense and offer resistance, but they did not have time to turn the game around: 16 – 12 in favor of Extra Salt.
Winning this tournament gives Extra Salt the opportunity to participate in the IEM Fall North America play-in, where they will compete for the right to advance to the main part of the competition with the winner of the North American stage of DreamHack Open September. At the same time, the team is unlikely to be able to get a place at ESL Pro League Season 14 due to its position in the ranking: Extra Salt is almost 150 points behind BIG and Spirit, and it is unlikely that they will be able to close this gap in the coming months, since they will not participate in IEM Cologne.
