FaZe became the champion of IEM Katowice

On Sunday evening, FaZe beat G2 in the grand finals of IEM Katowice, thus taking the lead in the tournament and $400,000 in prize money. Accordingly, second place went to G2, and third and fourth were shared by Heroic and Gambit. FaZe did not lose a single map to the enemy, finishing the match with a result of 3 – 0. The fight was especially intense on the first two maps, Inferno and Mirage, where the winner was determined in overtime – Moreover, on Mirage the card draw had to be extended five times. The final map was Dust2, which FaZe won with a score of 14 – 16.

The final of the tournament, which took place at the Spodek Arena in Katowice, Poland, attracted a record number of spectators and became the most watched match in the history of CS: GO, with the exception of major finals. According to Esports Charts, the broadcast of the final was watched by 1.12 million viewers at its peak.

Justin «jks» Savage, who played for FaZe, became the first Australian to win one of the largest esports tournaments. He took part in the playoff match as a result of a coincidence, temporarily taking the place of Havard "rain" Niagaard, sick with coronavirus.
