Finnish cyber athlete sues Valve

Finnish e-sportsman Elias “Jamppi» Olkkonen sued Valve Corporation over the VAC ban, which he believes is unfair. Recently, a ban on one of his accounts prevented him from signing a contract with the team, and it has still not been possible to resolve the conflict peacefully.

The player himself says that in 2015 he created a second account in the Steam service and purchased a second copy of CS:GO to play with a friend over a local network. The account was later sold to a friend of Elias. After some time, the Finn discovered that this second account was blocked by VAC, and the ban was attached to his account, and not to the account of a friend, who at that time was its actual owner.

The presence of a VAC-ban on his account became an obstacle to the Finn’s esports career: the esports organization OG considered him as a candidate for the role of a sniper, but he was unable to sign a contract. Previously, the player tried to get support from CSPPA – organization that unites professional players – but she refused to help solve the problem.

Now Jamppi is considered one of the most promising Finnish players. He performed well at the regional level, performing in the team SJ Gaming. Now he plans to seek justice in court to solve the problem with the VAC-ban and continue his career unhindered.
