Brazilian FURIA secured a spot in the Legends stage of the IEM Rio Major after defeating GamerLegion on two maps. Thus, the win-loss ratio of the Brazilian team was 3 – 1, which is enough to get to the top stage of the major.
Achieving FURIA guarantees that among the top 16 participants in the tournament there will be at least one “home” player. team. In addition, to date it remains the only all-Brazilian team at the major: Imperial and 00Nation dropped out of the competition, losing on Tuesday to Cloud9 and IHC, respectively.
The first map in the match between FURIA and GamerLegion was Vertigo, and on it the Brazilians showed their opponents from the very beginning that it would not be easy to beat them. Gamer Legion managed to take only a few rounds, and by the time the sides changed sides the difference in the score reached 11 – 4. In the second half of the card draw, the situation did not change much, and it ended with a score of 16 – 9 in favor of the Brazilian team. On Inferno the game unfolded in much the same way, and the overwhelming advantage in the first half was provided by FURIA sniper Rafael “saffee” Costa. Without any problems, the Brazilian team won this map with a score of 16 – 11, guaranteeing yourself a place in the main stage of the tournament.
As for GamerLegion, they have to win one more match to advance. However, it is unlikely to be simple: the team will play against Cloud9, which, it seems, is starting to return to good form after a not very successful start to the tournament.
