In Saturday's match at BLAST Premier World, the Gambit team managed to cope with a task that had remained impregnable for them throughout the year: defeating Vitality, advancing to the grand finals of a major tournament. Recently, Gambit suffered three defeats in a row from the French team, but was able to break this streak precisely at the moment when it was decisive.
The match began with a Vertigo draw – maps on which Gambit performed well throughout 2021. The fight was almost equal: first one, then the other team got ahead by several points, until in the end the Russian team managed to seize the advantage and finish the map with a score of 16 – 13. Despite the fact that Matthew “ZywOo” Herbo showed a rating of 1.55 in this part of the match, which was not enough to lead the team to victory – including because of Jason’s disastrous game “Kyojin” Nguyen Van, who managed to make only six kills during the entire play of the card.
Vitality chose Dust2 as the second map – a map on which she has consistently achieved success. Gambit took the lead several times, but Vitality found opportunities to resist each time. The French team was the first to score 15 points, but Gambit played three rounds in a row and sent the match into overtime. As a result, this map also remained with the e-sportsmen from the CIS with a score of 19 – 17. Now Gambit will have to meet in the grand final with the winner of the match NAVI – Vitality, the outcome of which will be determined on Sunday afternoon.
