Gambit defeated Virtus.pro in the grand finals of IEM Katowice with a score of 3 – 1 and became champion title holders. For the team, this is the biggest achievement of its entire existence. Even at the beginning of the competition, many analysts assessed Gambit's chances as low, but the team from the CIS managed to knock out the strongest rivals from their region from the playoffs, beating Natus Vincere and Spirit.
Gambit sniper Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov won the first MVP award of his career - he was declared the most effective player of IEM Katowice 2021. The player performed well not only in the grand final, but also in previous matches – on 15 of the 17 maps played, he showed an above-average rating and topped the leaderboards in several indicators at once. Thus, Gambit became the winners of the main prize of the tournament in the amount of $400,000. Second place went to Virtus.pro, and third and fourth positions were shared by Liquid and Spirit. Natus Vincere and Astralis remained in fifth and sixth places.
