Heroic won a crushing victory in the final of the European tournament ESL One Cologne, defeating Vitality with a score of 3:0. Thus, the Danish team will become the owner of $150,000 in prize money. The growth that Heroic has shown has been truly rapid: just last week it entered the top ten of the global rankings, and now it has become a leader in one of the largest European tournaments. Vitality again had to settle for second place, just like last year when they lost to Liquid.
Team leader Casper “cadiaN” Möller put it this way: “In 2015, I could only dream of reaching the final. Now we have become champions. This is the path the team has taken, this is the path I have traveled myself.”
The course of the final match was somewhat unexpected for both teams. At first the French were close to winning the first map (Inferno), but then for some unknown reason they lost the initiative. Without allowing their opponents to come to their senses, Heroic played the remaining two cards almost perfectly. In many ways this is the result – credit to coach Nikola "HUNDEN" Petersen, who has been working with the team for the past four months. The most productive Heroic player was Martin “stavn” Lund, which showed a rating of 1.44.
