Heroic team management announced that it is bringing formal charges against former coach Nikolai "HUNDEN" Petersen, because he believes that he shared important information about the team's strategy with one of its principal rivals on the eve of IEM Cologne. Heroic says formal litigation has already begun after two Danish courts "independently found sufficient evidence to support the collection of evidence that is currently underway." This probably explains why HUNDEN did not appear in the team at the last major tournament.
Due to these allegations, tournament organizer ESL conducted its own investigation to determine whether this situation could have affected the teams' performance at IEM Cologne. Based on its results, it was concluded that, although HUNDEN indeed sent third parties access rights to the folder with information about the team’s strategy, the recipient did not use them. Consequently, the principles of fair play were not violated during the tournament.
ESIC also commented on the progress of the investigation. The organization issued a statement confirming that it is currently investigating allegations against HUNDEN, which “has engaged in conduct that potentially violates the principles of fair play established by the ESIC Integrity Program.” ESIC is currently collecting information and evidence that will allow it to make a final decision.
