Many players have already acquired stickers from the capsule in honor of the tenth anniversary of CS:GO. In total, it includes more than fifty stickers, and many of them are notable not only for their bright and memorable images, but also for the references, puns or jokes hidden in their design. Here are some stories about stickers from the anniversary capsule.
Dreams and Mimics
The sticker, whose name is translated into Russian as “Dreams and Mimics,” contains two references at once. Firstly, facial expressions – dangerous creatures that disguise themselves as chests are familiar to many players from the DarkSouls series. However, in fact, they were found in many fantasy works even earlier. Secondly, in the picture there is not just a chest, but a case presented in the form of a mimic Dreams & Nightmares: it can be recognized by its coloring and logo on the body.
Greens’sProblem
And the sticker called “Green Problem” refers to video, which became a meme in the CS:GO community. In it, the player first turns to a teammate with the question: “Green, what’s your problem?”, then kills him, gets banned for half an hour for this, finally loses his temper and breaks his keyboard. It is this sequence of events that is reflected on the sticker: on the new sticker one player turns to another with a question, and on the erased version you can see how the keys fly apart from the blow.
Magic Rush Ball
This sticker depicts a popular toy called a magic ball: think of a question, shake it and get an answer. On the image of the ball on the sticker, the following question is already written: “Where are we in a hurry?” And if you rub the sticker, it gives way to another, no less urgent for those who have already decided on the previous one: “What are we purchasing?” It's a pity that you can't use this sticker as a fortune ball during a match.
Approaching Site
Even those who don't watch anime have probably come across memes based on this scene from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. References to this franchise can be found in many works, and now CS:GO is also one of them. The sticker recreates one of the most famous scenes from the manga: JoJo is approached by his antagonist, Dio Brando.
Cbbl
Some stickers will especially appeal to experienced CS:GO players. Those who started playing recently no longer found maps such as Cobblestone or Aztec (the first was removed from the competitive mode, and the second was completely removed from the game). The sticker reminds us of them: it shows the name of the first of these classic cards, and when erased, the second one appears.
Blue Gem
Finally, a sticker called BlueGem will especially appeal to collectors of rare skins. Its very name – a reference to the category of rare and expensive skins BlueGemCaseHardened. In addition, when the sticker is erased, the number 661 appears, and it was not chosen by chance: this is the pattern index of the most expensive version AK-47 CaseHardenedBlueGem.
