Jonji has announced his departure from American Bad New Bears

Canadian eSports player Jonathan "Jonji" Carey announced his departure from Bad New Bears after the team was eliminated from the DreamHack Open September. The player has been playing for it since January, when the current roster was formed.

Jonji made this decision after the team completed its performance at DreamHack Open September, having been defeated by TeamOne in the decisive match of the group tournament. When playing both maps, Bad New Bears initially gained a fairly noticeable advantage, but she was unable to maintain it, and as a result, the victory went to TeamOne with a score of 2: 0.

Despite the fact that the team won the Fragadelphia 15 some time ago, it was unsuccessful in larger tournaments. In addition to the defeat mentioned above, the team failed to advance beyond the qualifying stage to the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown. This prompted Jonji to announce his departure, which he commented as follows: “As many have said, I am probably really holding the team back from moving forward, and therefore plan to leave for the near future. I want to invest my energy and conviction in a project from which I will feel a return."

As a result, Bad New Bears, who will compete at IEM Fall North America in ten days, will have to replace Jonji with team coach Nathan "madcow" Retterata. Although she still has theoretical chances of qualifying for the PGL Major, they are now becoming even smaller due to the deduction of rating points for replacing a player.
