Astralis announced that the organization has reached a mutual agreement with Christian “k0nfig» Wieneke about the termination of his contract “for personal reasons.” This decision was made shortly after the Danish team performed unsuccessfully at the European RMR-tournament and failed to qualify for the major for the first time since 2016.
Wineke has missed the last few matches due to an ankle injury. The circumstances in which he received it remained unclear for a long time, although some publications mentioned that the player came into conflict with a bar employee in Malta, where the team was staying after a performance at ESL Pro League Season 16.
Only three weeks after the incident, k0nfig published a post in which he shared the details of what happened. He mentioned that he got into a fight with an employee at a nightclub where he was going to hang out with his teammates. The employee was aggressive and abusive and then hit the player first, after which the latter got into a fight with him. Commenting on what happened, k0nfig expressed regret that he responded with aggression instead of getting out of the situation.
Also k0nfig shared details about his health condition: he spent the last few weeks in the hospital and underwent two operations for a complex fracture. However, he emphasized that he is not going to end his career despite the fact that he is now going through the most difficult period in his life.
