In the first part of CS GO, one of the key problems was the tick rate, which was discussed a lot in the gaming community. In short, a tick rate is a short period of time while the server processes all the actions that occurred in the game before the tick rate occurs. But, since the skating rink goes on without interruptions, unpleasant situations arise when a gamer, for example, shoots directly at the enemy’s head during a tick rate, but does not kill him or even injure him. The thing is that the server is busy processing previous actions and cannot record what happens during the tickrate.
This phenomenon is called “gameplay desynchronization.” According to Valv, the new CS GO 2 will introduce an antidote to tick rate, namely: a subtick system or, in other words, zero tick rate. If you have already received the beta of CS GO 2, then you have a unique opportunity to test this system on your own experience.

In principle, the introduction of zero tickrate does not fundamentally change the existing system for processing game events by the server, but only corrects it and eliminates the existing drawback.
The point is that during the tick rate, while the server is busy processing past events, the subtick system is turned on. Its task is to continue to record the actions occurring during the skating rink and respond to them in a timely manner. After the tick rate ends, control is taken over by the server again, and this continues until a new tick rate and a new activation of the subtick system.
According to Valve, in this way it is possible to solve the problem of “gameplay desynchronization” and, accordingly, eliminate gaps in the processing of in-game actions, which will lead to a more enjoyable and fair game.
