Danish eSports player Finn "karrigan" Andersen announced his return to FaZe last month after leaving the team in 2018 to play for mousesports for nearly two years. Fans of the Danish team expect that his participation will open up new opportunities for the team – Recently, the team has clearly lacked an experienced in-game leader. On Monday, the thirty-year-old player gave an interview to the HLTV portal, talking about why he decided to play for FaZe again after such a long break.
He mentioned that mousesports has faced some problems in recent months. After the start of the pandemic, the team performed inconsistently and was forced to bench several players after a disastrous performance at ESL One Cologne. As a result, karrigan was forced to take on more responsibility than usual. This caused him to burn out, and he was eventually forced to take a break to think about his future plans.
Thus, in January Andersen had to decide whether he wanted to continue collaborating with mousesports. He noted that, in essence, he was choosing between two different approaches to forming a team: if mousesports prefers to acquire young players and then invest in their development, then FaZe is ready to pay for cooperation with more experienced e-sportsmen. As a result, the second option seemed more preferable for karrigan – Moreover, in FaZe he will have to take a free role, and not replace another in-game leader.
Karrigan hopes that the team will soon be able to hold a bootcamp, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, these plans, as well as the prospects for further participation in competitions, remain uncertain.
