The Chinese team ViCi took the lead in the local qualifying tournament, thus securing a place in the BLAST Fall Showdown. This will be her second appearance on the international stage in 2021.
ViCi won a slot at the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, defeating Lynn Vision in the grand final of the Douya Fall Cup tournament. The competition was held in two stages: eight teams, divided into two groups, began their path to victory. The two teams that took the top positions in each of them advanced to the playoffs. ViCi then eliminated TYLOO in the semi-finals to face Lynn Vision in the final match.
Thus, ViCi will be able to perform on the international stage for the second time in a year. Before that, she managed to get into the play-in of IEM Cologne, but then she was quickly eliminated from the tournament, ending up in 13th place. 16th place after defeats from Complexity and Evil Geniuses. This time the conditions will be even more difficult for ViCi. BLAST Fall Showdown begins immediately with the single elimination format stage, which means that if the team loses the match, they will immediately leave the tournament.
To date, based on the results of regional qualifying competitions, two more participants in the autumn tournament have been identified – Movistar Riders (Spain) and POGGERS (Syria). Five more regional tournaments around the world are set to conclude soon, with two more teams receiving direct invites. Finally, six places will go to those who ended up in low positions in the BLAST Premier Fall group tournament.
