The number of spectators of IEM Rio Major exceeded 1 million

On the first day of the Legends stage, the number of spectators simultaneously watching matches at IEM Rio Major 2022 exceeded 1 million. This stage of the tournament, which started on Saturday, sees sixteen teams battle it out for the playoffs in a packed Jeunesse Arena.

Prior to this, the Challengers stage had already broken the record, collecting the most views for this stage of the tournament in the history of the majors. Now Legends has recorded a record number of broadcast viewers of 1,058,029 people at its peak and just under 500 thousand on average.

The most popular confrontation so far remains the game Imperial vs. Vitality, which took place at the Challengers stage – Almost 700 thousand people watched it. Several other matches also attracted more than 600 thousand spectators, in particular, Imperial against Cloud9 and FURIA against BIG. Please note that matches from the first days of the Legends stage are not yet included in these statistics, since the data on the number of views is updated with some delay.

The title of the most popular major is still held by PGL Stockholm, which took place in November 2021. The peak number of viewers then exceeded 2.5 million (during the grand finals), and it is possible that the final stage of IEM Rio will also approach such impressive values.
