Astralis published a message that Christian "k0nfig" Wienecke will miss the next few matches as he suffered a broken ankle and will need some time to rest and heal. It remains unknown for how long the twenty-five-year-old eSports player will not be able to appear at tournaments, but it is already clear that he will be forced to miss the IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR, which takes place in early October.
His place in the team will be temporarily taken by Mikkel “MistR” Thomsen from Astralis Talent. This could significantly reduce the likelihood for Astralis to get to the IEM Rio Major, since Astralis' rivals will include teams such as FaZe, G2, NIP and Cloud9.
Although k0nfig has been criticized for his inconsistent results, he has contributed significantly to many of Astralis' successful performances in 2022. In particular, the team managed to reach the semifinals at IEM Cologne, and also be among the eight leaders at ESL Pro League Season 15 and at IEM Katowice. This is not the first time he has missed matches due to injury: in the second half of 2021, when he was still playing for Complexity, he was out for two months due to a wrist injury.
