A few years ago, Valve added a new feature for skin creators to create even more expressive designs by adding textures that look different depending on the lighting. This iridescent effect is similar to holographic stickers, although the latter look brighter.
In this case, the skinmaker can choose to what extent this effect will appear: with a zero value, the skin will look completely ordinary, and with a maximum value, the entire surface shimmers with rainbow colors). Now in CS2 there are more than a dozen such weapon designs, but not all of them have a very noticeable change in color.
MP9 Stained Glass
One of the first skins to which this effect was added, became MP9 Stained Glass. Its surface is painted in various shades of blue and blue and resembles a mosaic made from pieces of glass. The stock and magazine are left metal, and several dark red fragments complete the picture. For “glass” the surface shine effect is particularly suitable.
M4A1-S Printstream
The iridescent effect has been added to all skins in the series Printstream, and this is another reason for their popularity. For example, the M4A1-S Printstream has most of the body left white, but when the lighting changes in the game, it turns slightly different colors. Moreover, this is not the only advantage of the skin: its author is known for his attention to small details and careful finishing of textures, and this work of his is no exception.
AK-47 Nightwish
AK-47 Nightwish looks bright on its own: the body of the weapon is covered with psychedelic patterns on a black background. Among the chaos of blue, yellow and red-violet lines, you can see the head of a predatory beast with glowing eyes, which occupies the central part of the machine gun’s body. As the author of the Nextgenz skin explains, the mother-of-pearl effect further emphasizes the surrealism of the design and creates the illusion of changing colors.
MAC-10 Disco Tech
This effect looks good on skins with minimalistic designs, and MAC-10 Disco Tech an example of this. The flat sides of the body are covered with a simple geometric design, but thanks to the holographic effect, its color will change depending on the angle at which the weapon is turned. At one moment the skin may appear purple-green, and at another – orange-pink. And if you get a version of the skin in good condition, the color shifts will look especially impressive.
AUG Midnight Lily
Another skin on the body of which the holographic effect is quite noticeable – this AUG Midnight Lily. The body of the weapon is painted gray and covered with an ornament of lilies, the location of which depends on the pattern index. However, in the game it looks noticeably brighter than in many screenshots, since the color of the flowers will change depending on the lighting.
