Russian Cloud9 was among the teams that have already left the IEM Cologne tournament. Despite the fact that the team is now fourth in the world rankings, it finished the competition at 9 – 12th place, failing to qualify from the group stage. She looked quite convincing in her opening match against Outsiders, but then suffered crushing defeats in the next two games – against Liquid and Astralis.
In an interview with team captain Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov said after finishing his participation in the tournament, he noted that he should be blamed for the low result, first of all. This is confirmed by statistics – on the six maps the team played at the tournament, his rating was only 0.71. Nafany directly said that he “ruined the tournament for his team.”
He mentioned that there are several reasons for the team's poor performance, but if anyone needs to be blamed, it is himself first of all. At the same time, the player noted that the problem was not only in his own low performance (for example, on Mirage in the match against Astralis his K & ndash; D indicator was 16 & ndash; 11), but also in the fact that he did not cope with the responsibilities of an in-game leader very well. In conclusion, Nafany thanked everyone for their support and promised that the team will return with better results next season.
