The Natus Vincere team won its second major title in 2021, defeating Gambit in the grand finals of the DreamHack Masters Spring championship. The final match took place in the “best of 5” format, and NAVI did not leave their opponents a single chance, winning three maps in a row. Interestingly, this is the first match since the beginning of the year when Natus Vincere were able to defeat Gambit: before that, they were defeated by them three times, including in the group stage of DreamHack Masters Spring.
This victory marks several important milestones for NAVI. In addition to the fact that this is the second title that the team received since the beginning of the year, after winning the BLAST Premier Global Final in January, Dream Hack Masters Spring became the first tournament that the team held with a new lineup: on all maps, instead of the “flamie” Egor, who was sent to reserve. Vasiliev was performed by Valery “B1T” Vakhovsky.
In the match with Gambit, NAVI were able to take control of the situation literally from the first rounds. On the Overpass map, they methodically took one round after another, bringing the score to 8 – 0. Although Gambit were able to play several matches later, the map remained with Natus Vincere with a score of 16 – 7. On the next two maps, Gambit resisted more actively, but were unable to find an effective strategy: on both Dust2 and Train Natus Vincere won with a score of 16 – 12.
