European team G2 defeated Natus Vincere in a tense match at the Spodek Arena and secured their place in the grand final. Thus, G2 was able to put an end to the series of defeats in the confrontation with the team from the CIS, which lasted since June 2020: last year alone, it lost to NAVI three times in the playoffs of LAN tournaments.
At Inferno, the Europeans played aggressively from the very beginning, forcing Natus Vincere to defend. Soon the advantage became overwhelming: 10 – 2 in favor of G2. Thanks to the efforts of Alexander "s1mple" Kostylev Natus Vincere to win back a few points, but even after changing sides the advantage remained with their opponents (15 – 8). After several successful rounds for NAVI, the card draw ended with a score of 16 – 12 in favor of G2.
On Mirage, events developed in a similar way: having lost the advantage at the beginning, NAVI managed to even the score, winning seven rounds in a row, but this was not enough. As a result, the map also remained with G2 with a score of 16 – 13. It is noteworthy that Ilya “m0NESY” made a significant contribution to the victory of the European team. Osipov, who recently joined it from Navi Junior.
Now G2 will face FaZe in the grand finals, which will take place on Sunday evening.
