Nikola “NiKo” Kovacs and Nemanja «huNter-» Kovacs announced a contract extension with G2 on the eve of the Major. Although team representatives did not indicate for what specific period the agreement was signed, it is known that we are talking about at least a contract for several years. HuNter has been performing in G2 since October 2019 – then he joined it, moving from the Ukrainian GR4ZY. NiKo came to G2 another year later, in November 2020, and by that time he had already managed to make a name for himself playing for FaZe.
Thus, both players will dedicate the most promising years of their eSports careers to G2. The eldest of the Kovacs is now 26 years old, and the youngest is 25, and they have both shown excellent individual form recently. In 2020 and 2021, they were included in the list of the best twenty players of the year, but major trophies continue to elude their team.
Now G2 will have to test their strength at the PGL Antwerp Major. She will play her opening match on May 9 against the American Liquid, which is currently ranked 13th in the world rankings. G2 itself is currently in sixth position, having performed impressively at IEM Katowice after being coached by Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen. However, she failed to play at the same level in the ESL Pro League and PGL RMR.
