The update for CS2, which came out on May 24, brought several major changes. The most discussed of them was the possibility of renting skins, but there are other important innovations, for example, adjustments to the game’s economy. Let's figure out what renting skins is, how it works, and what else deserves attention in this update.
What is skin rental?
One of the most noticeable innovations was skin rental. When opening a case, the player now has two options: receive one random item, as before, or receive the entire contents of the case, except for gloves and knives, for a week. After this period, the skins will disappear from the inventory. The case will also be considered spent. The following restrictions apply to rented items:
You cannot apply stickers or change the weapon tag.
All skins are issued without a kill counter.
Skins cannot be exchanged or sold.
Renting skins for a week is currently only available for the case "Kilowatt". You can use this option as many times as you like, but you will need to buy the case and the key for it again.
To rent skins in CS2, you will need to select the “Open for rent” option. (Open for Rent) when opening the case. This option can be useful for those who want to try skins in the game before buying them, or play several matches with rare and expensive items without spending a large amount on them.
Gameplay updates
In addition, significant changes have been added to the Molotov cocktail. and incendiary grenades. They affected both the visual display and the gameplay:

Other changes
The developers have improved the viewing interface demo recordings, adding indicators to the scale for quick transition to the moments of killing an enemy or death of a player. It is also possible to view only these events. In addition, several errors were corrected in the interface of the purchasing menu, viewing statistics, and inspecting items in the Warehouse.
The update also included another portion of improvements and improvements on four maps, namely Vertigo, Baggage, Office and Mirage. The most changes are on Vertigo, where the location of objects at point A has been changed.
Interestingly, some skins were affected by changes that were not mentioned in the patch notes: now some variants of the Doppler, Gamma Doppler and Marble Fade patterns began to look less attractive, according to some players. As a result, these skins have lost some value.
