The organizers of the BLAST tournament talked about how the qualifying competitions for the spring Showdown tournament will be held. They reported how two of the four places at the upcoming championship, which are still vacant, will be filled. They will be occupied by the winners of regional tests in Northern Europe and the CIS. How participants will be selected for the remaining two places will be announced later.
Teams from Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway will take part in the Northern European stage of selection, which will take place in early May. These will be four invited participants, including ENCE and North, as well as the winners of national-level qualifying competitions. The composition of the stage, which will take place in Moscow on May 28-31, will be formed according to a similar scheme. Five of the eight places will be taken by invited participants.
The BLAST Spring 2020 Showdown tournament itself will take place in early June. Its participants will include the winners of the qualifying competitions discussed above, and teams that turned out to be outsiders based on the results of the group tournament.
The finalists of the Showdown tournament will qualify for the BLAST Spring 2020 Finals. Its participants, in turn, will be able to compete for a place at BLAST Premier 2020, which will take place in the summer in Moscow, and then for the main goal of this series of games – a ticket to the BLAST Global Final with a prize fund of $1.5 million.
