The full list of 24 teams that will travel to Sweden to participate in the PGL Major Stockholm has become known. The team that took the last vacant place was the Danish Copenhagen Flames, which finished IEM Fall Europe in seventh place.
The selection process for the first major in two years took place in six regions and began more than a year and a half ago, with the first series of RMR tournaments. Now everything is ready for the final stage – the return of the largest and most prestigious competition in the world, CS:GO. PGL Major Stockholm will be the first event in this category since the StarLadder Major, which took place more than two years ago, and will also be the first major competition since the start of the pandemic to be held in front of a large crowd.
The twenty-four participants included leaders of the professional scene, including teams occupying the top lines of the world rankings – such as Natus Vincere, Gambit, Vitality and G2. Among the well-known teams that did not qualify were OG, Complexity and fnatic.
The competition will begin on October 26 with the Challengers stage, in which teams that have received Contender or Challenger status depending on their position in the RMR rating table will compete for four days using the Swiss system for eight places in the next stage. In the next stage, called Legends, they will compete against eight other teams who received direct invitations. As a result, eight participants in the playoffs will be determined, which will take place at the Avicii Arena in the presence of 10,000 spectators.
