Tournament organizer PGL has announced which teams will play in the opening matches of the RMR event for the Americas, which starts next Monday. 16 participants will compete for six places, which are reserved for teams from this region at the major. The qualifying stage will feature several of the most successful teams from two continents, including FURIA, Liquid, Complexity and Evil Geniuses.
The opening matches of the tournament will take place in two parallel streams. Monday will begin with FURIA playing against the Argentine team Leviatan, and Party Astronauts – at the same time they will oppose the South American Isurus. Among other notable matches of this day – MIBR vs 9z and Liquid vs 00Nation, which will be played towards the end of the day.
Thus, on the starting day of the tournament, two starting rounds of the qualifying round will be played, which takes place according to the Swiss system. Then the teams that won the opening matches will play against each other, while those that suffered one defeat will continue to participate in the selection in a separate stream. The further distribution of teams in the bracket will also depend on the number of points scored. The final list of candidates from North and South America who will qualify for the Major will become known on April 15.
