The Australian team Renegades won the EPIC League Oceania 2021 tournament, winning the final match against ORDER. Thus, Renegades remain leaders in the rankings in their region and have a good chance of getting to the PGL Stockholm Major, which will take place in October. To do this, they will need to successfully perform in at least one more regional rating tournament.
ORDER approached the grand final with good chances of winning: since February, the team has not suffered a single defeat in official matches, winning 23 in a row. At the previous stage of EPIC League Oceania 2021, she defeated Renegades, but the players failed to repeat this achievement again. ORDER lost with a score of 2 – 0, although the fight was really tight on both maps, and Renegade only won by a small margin in the extra rounds (19 – 17 on Inferno and 19 – 16 on Dust2).
The greatest contribution to the victory of Renegades was made by Joshua "INS" Potter. The twenty-two-year-old player achieved a 1.21 rating on ten maps at this tournament. In addition, he took on the functions of an in-game leader – this role in the team remained vacant after the departure of Christopher "dexter" Nonga at mousesports.
