Russian cyber athlete talks about women in CS GO

Recently Ksenia “vilga” Klyuenkova, currently playing for the women's team Galaxy Racer, gave an interview to Afisha Daily. She spoke about the difficulties girls face in eSports and her experience of professional performances. In particular, Ksenia mentioned that negativity and prejudice towards female players is indeed quite common. Moreover, offensive comments are left primarily by those players who have achieved little themselves, while constructive advice and support can more often be expected from strong eSports players.

Vilga believes that there are still few girls in eSports, not because they lack abilities or the games are not interesting to them, but because the negativity repels newcomers. At the professional level, there are much fewer such problems — Most of the negativity comes from amateur players.

Vilga has been involved in eSports since 2008. She performed in several female CS:GO teams both at the Russian and international levels – these include Team Secret and WRTP. She has numerous successes in regional tournaments, as well as eight victories in major world championships.
