Negev dev_texture
Unusual spelling of the name Negev dev_texture – with a small letter and an underscore – immediately evokes associations with programming. And indeed, the name of this skin – a reference to the original Source engine. That's why the design uses orange and gray, like the engine logo, and the gray elements look like temporary textures added for development. The picture is completed by the phrase “hammer.exe time,” which refers to the Hammer editor – Valve's official tool for creating maps and mods.
FAMAS ZX Spectron
Another interesting reference to the history of computer games is contained in the name FAMAS ZX Spectron. It refers to the ZX Spectrum – one of the first personal computers to achieve truly massive popularity. Colored stripe on the FAMAS body – signature design element of Spectrum. Interestingly, the skin appeared in the game five days after the death of Clive Sinclair, the creator of the device.
P90 ScaraB Rush
Sometimes the reference may not be noticeable at first glance. There is nothing unusual in the design of the P90 ScaraB Rush – like other items from the same collection, it is made in the Egyptian style. But its name – a hint at the “Rush B” meme, which became widespread in the early years of the game’s existence.
AK-47 Bloodsport
Often the names of skins refer to famous works of mass culture. For example, the name AK-47 Bloodsport brings to mind the legendary American film “Bloodsport.” with Jean-Claude Van Damme. The film gained its fame largely due to its impressive, aggressive fight scenes, which is quite consistent with the mood of this skin.
P250 Nevermore
Sometimes skin designers do not limit themselves to modern works and reach literary classics. An example of this – P250 Nevermore. However, how well the appearance of the skin matches the name depends on the pattern index. If you're lucky, the body of the weapon will be decorated with several silhouettes of ravens, which are reminiscent of Edgar Allan Poe's poem "Nevermore", in which the black raven acts as a gloomy messenger of fate.
