ESL announced the schedule and locations of RMR tournaments in the Road to Rio series. In total, more than five dozen teams will compete for the opportunity to get to IEM Rio Major 2022.
Unlike the previous series, which preceded PGL Major Antwerp and were held sequentially in different regions, this time all three events will take place simultaneously, from October 4 to 9. As a result, this phase of the competition will be shortened by eight days compared to the previous cycle.
The European stage, which will be held in Malta, will feature 32 teams, which will be selected based on their position in the previous major, as well as the results of open qualifying tournaments played in the second half of August. All participants will be divided into two separate tournaments, each of which will compete for eight places at the Major. At the same time, four leaders of the first RMR tournament and 3 leaders of the second will go directly to the Legends stage.
At the same time, teams from North and South America will sort things out in Stockholm. Of the 16 participants, six will advance to the major, and the tournament leader will advance directly to Legends. Finally, four Asian teams will play at PAX Aus in Melbourne, competing for two spots at the Major.
