The organizers of the WePlay Academy youth league shared details of how the third season will take place. The competition will take place from early January to mid-February, and two new teams will appear among the participants.
The tournament, created for young players, starts on January 3. In addition to the previous participants, Spirit Academy and Eternal Fire Academy will compete for first place. With a total of ten teams in the league now, the group stage format will change from previous seasons. This time the participants will be divided into two groups that will compete in the round-robin format.
Last season's champions MOUZ NXT, who were rumored to be losing several current roster players to the main team, were placed in Group B along with two newcomers and two more teams that had never reached the tournament finals in previous tournaments (VP.Prodigy and FURIA Academy). Group A included three finalists of last season (NAVI Junior, Young Ninjas and BIG Academy), as well as Astralis Talent and fnatic Rising.
Teams that take the top positions in their groups will advance to the playoffs, which are scheduled to take place at the WePlay Esports Arena in Kyiv on 11 – February 13. The remaining teams will play an additional qualifying stage, the winners of which will get two more places in the final stage.
