Stewie2K of Evil Geniuses has decided to leave cybersports and go into streaming

Jake “Stewie2K” Yip announced that he had decided to “leave competitive CS:GO and concentrate on streaming.” Shortly before this, news appeared that Evil Geniuses, for whom he played, plans to sign Kevin “misutaaa” in the near future. Rabier and Sanzhar "neaLaN" Iskhakov, who should replace Stewie2K and William “RUSH” Vezhbu.

Even though Stewie2K is only 24 years old, he is one of the most decorated and experienced players in the North American esports scene. He won his first trophy back in October 2016 as a member of Cloud9. Over the years, he has twice received the HLTV MVP award, won 12 LAN competitions and the Intel Grand Slam. During his career, he played for the biggest teams in North and South America, such as Cloud9, MIBR and Liquid. As a member of Cloud9, he participated in the historic victory at ELEAGUE Major 2018 – the only time a team from North America won a major.

In recent months, he acted as an in-game leader as part of Evil Geniuses, but the lineup assembled in January failed to achieve the same success. The team failed to qualify for the major in Antwerp, and also failed at the ESL Pro League, BLAST Spring Groups and BLAST Spring Showdown. At the same time, in his post about future plans, Stewie2K mentioned that “the future has not yet been determined,” without ruling out a definitive return to an esports career.
