
Russian Spirit became the first team to secure a place in the next stage of PGL Major Antwerp. In her final match of the Legends stage, she defeated Copenhagen Flames with a score of 2 – 1. Before the start of the tournament, few people expected that both teams would be in the same group of the qualifying stage – among those who won two victories. However, they both managed to win two matches in the BO1 format in the previous rounds, thus coming as close as possible to qualifying for the next stage.
The first map of the match was Copenhagen Flames Vertigo, and on it the Danes managed to quickly gain an advantage. By the time the sides switched, Spirit was able to close the gap, but she failed to beat her opponent: the map remained with Copenhagen Flames with a score of 10 – 16. On Mirage, the Russian team quickly achieved map control and subsequently maintained an advantage, ending the rally with a score of 16 – 8. At the decisive Ancient, the gap became even more significant: Copenhagen Flames could only win six rounds.
Thus, Spirit with three victories advances to the next stage. Copenhagen Flames still have a chance to continue participating in the tournament. Whether she will be able to implement it will depend on the results of the next matches of the qualifying stage.
