By 2022, Asian esports organizations quickly broke into the top Dota 2 teams. For example, in the top three dota teams, one is from China and the other is from Indonesia. Of course, they have not yet completely displaced the Europeans from the top, but the trend is such that it seems to be a matter of time.
As for the CIS, only Russian teams are among the three strongest e-sports clubs. In recent years, Navi has lost a lot and is only a pale shadow of the fighting five that destroyed everyone at the first ever The International in 2011.
And a little life hack: if you search for top Dota 2 teams on HLTV to find out the official ranking of Dota org, you won’t find it there. Now it is placed only on DLTV, and Counter Strike remains on HLTV.
Number 1 in the world ranking
The Chinese have become not only a major industrial and global power, but have also begun to claim leading positions in eSports, for example, thanks to confidently winning the title of top 1 Dota 2 team in 2022. We are talking about the PSG.LGD team, which is more than 200 rating points ahead of its closest pursuer.
The team is represented by:
-
The carry position is Wang Chunyu or Ame.
-
In the mid position - Cheng Jin Xiang or NothingToSay.
-
The offlane position is Zhang Ruida or Faith_bian.
-
In the position of seven-support - Zhao Zixing or XinQ.
-
The position of full support and team captain is Zhang Liping or y`.
The name of the group is translated from Chinese as “Old Stepfather.” Until 2018, when a sponsorship agreement was signed with the French football club Paris Saint-Germain, the organization bore the name LGD Gaming.
There is one curious fact in the history of the Chinese esports club: the team started playing Dota 2 in March 2012, and just six months later, in September, they were able to take 3rd place in the most prestigious dota tournament, The International. By the way, the guys from PSG.LGD, the top 1 Dota 2 team, have not missed a single International since 2012 and always took places no lower than 6-9.
Number 2 on planet Earth
This is the pride of Russia, the only Russian team to ever win the International (champions of The International 2021) and set a record for the largest prize money at a single eSports tournament - $18,208,300. This is the second number in the top teams in the Dota 2 world and the best dota team in the CIS. This is Team Spirit.
Orga is played by:
-
The carry position is Ilya Mulyarchuk or Yatoro.
-
At the mid position - Alexander Khertek or TORONTOTOKYO.
-
The offlane position is Magomed Khalilov or Collapse.
-
In the semi-support position - Miroslav Kolpakov or Mira.
-
In the position of full support and team captain - Yaroslav Naydenov or Miposhka.
By the way, before winning the last International Spirit, International Spirit did not achieve great success. Suffice it to say that in 6 years, from the founding of the club in December 2015 until winning a record prize in the fall of 2021, the team earned prize money in an amount slightly exceeding $700,000.
Number 3 in the world
And again the Asian team, but this time from Indonesia - BOOM Esports. She began her journey to the list of top Dota 2 teams in November 2016, declaring the main goal of the club’s existence to be the first line of the world ranking. BOOM Esports made a serious leap to the top in 2020 during the heyday of online competitions, which were held due to the introduction of Covid restrictions.
The abbreviation BOOM stands for “Beast on our mind” (The beast in our minds). The main principle of the esports organization is to sign only Indonesian players. The club has not made an official comment on why its management is doing this, but I assume the following: the organization wants to support local talent in this way.
Number 3 in the top teams in the Dota 2 world includes:
-
The carry position is Soulia Khoomphemsavong or JaCkky.
-
The mid position is Erin Jasper Ferrer or Yopaj.
-
The position of offlane and team captain is Saeful Ilham or Fbz.
-
In the position of seven-support - Timothy Gendrup or Tims.
-
In the full support position - Rolen Andre Gabriel Ong or skem.
First and second ranking in the CIS
I already talked about the first number among the top CIS Dota 2 teams, Team Spirit, above in the text under the subtitle “Number 2 on planet Earth.”
As of August 2022, the second team among the CIS eSports organizations is Outsiders from Russia. In fact, this is the good old Virtus.pro, which changed its name in order not to be associated with Russia and continue to receive invitations to dota competitions.
International, unfortunately, has not yet submitted to them, but there are 2 majors in the treasury of victories: Kuala Lumpur and Bucharest. The team's golden time ended in 2020 with the onset of the covid epidemic. At the same time, it began to gradually lose its status as the top team in the Dota 2 world, and then the strongest players began to leave.
Currently, the club is trying with all its might to find a new winning strategy, but judging by the results, this has not yet been possible.
The Outsiders are played by:
-
The carry position is Danil Skutin or gpk~.
-
In the mid position - Egor Lipartia or Xakoda.
-
The offlane position is Daniyal Lazebny or yamich.
-
In the semi-support position - Dmitry Dorokhin or DM.
-
The full support position is Roman Kushnarev or RAMZES666.
Number 3 in the CIS
In third place among the top CIS Dota 2 teams is the Russian BetBoom Team, which bought the entire roster from the Winstrike Team organization. Reason for purchase: After the start of the Russian special operation, Winstrike was unable to ensure the normal functioning of the team and decided to temporarily close the Dota 2 direction. So April 18, 2022 marked the birth of the new esports club BetBoom.
Despite the fact that the club is only 4 months old, it has already made its mark in the history of Dota by winning the 9th season of the Champions League, so it rightfully takes its place among the top Dota 2 teams.
Betboom is represented by: in the carry position - Nikita Kuzmin or Daxak; in the mid position - Denis Segitov or Larl; in the offlane position - Evgeniy Ignatenko or Noticed; in the seven-support position - Vladimir Nikoghosyan or RodjER; in the position of full support and team captain - Akbar Butaev or SoNNeikO.
