Chinese TYLOO became the first team to qualify for IEM Winter. In the grand finals of the IEM Winter Asia Qualifier, she defeated NKT, which included players from Korea, Singapore and Mongolia.
IEM Winter may be the first major tournament in more than a year that TYLOO will travel to Europe to participate in. The last time she competed at a European event was in April 2020 at ESL Pro League Season 11. In addition, TYLOO still has a chance to get to the major in Stockholm: the team competes for a place with ViCi. Who will get a ticket to PGL Major Stockholm depends on the results of IEM Fall, which will take place from October 5 to 10.
To secure a place at IEM Winter, the Chinese team first had to go through an open qualifying tournament. Then they performed brilliantly in the closed part of the qualifying stage, without suffering a single defeat. Among their opponents were such Asian teams as Wings Up and NKT. She won both with a score of 2 – 0.
In the future, based on the results of similar qualifying tournaments, four more participants in IEM Winter will be determined – three from Europe and another from North America. The remaining eleven teams will receive direct invitations from ESL.
