Once we already talked about skins for CS:GO that appeared in the game despite the fact that their appearance at first glance did not comply with the rules established by Valve. But there are also skins that turn out to be even rarer: for example, game items with impossible parameters that arose as a result of an error.
Skins with impossible float
Errors can be associated with the numerical parameters of a skin, that is, with indicators that determine its appearance. The main one is – float value, on which the degree of wear of the skin depends. For each skin, there are limits within which the value of this parameter can change.
For example, for a Nova Predator the wear rate cannot be lower than 0.06. However, in 2017, a copy of this item was found in the database, which had a float of 0.5999999. Even this small difference was enough to make the skin seem unique to many collectors. In a short period of time, it changed owners several times, and in the end the YouTuber bought it for more than $700.
In 2020, a similar story happened with Nova Polar Mesh. This time, the cost of a unique skin with a float lower than possible was even higher. It is known that it was sold for more than two thousand dollars.
In both cases, the error was made possible due to the way rounding works. In the game, the indicator is rounded to several decimal places, while on third-party sites the full value may be displayed. As a result, the rounded variable is 0.6, and the game considers the value valid, while when viewing the properties of the item in the database, an erroneous value appears.
Unique souvenir
An equally interesting story happened with R8 Revolver Bone Mask. This skin is part of the Bank collection, items from which did not drop as souvenirs from major tournaments. However, this skin, probably as a result of a bug, is considered a souvenir for DreamHack 2013. As a result, it can be obtained from a tournament souvenir set, and there are at least six such copies of this revolver, with rather low float values. Truly unique items considering the skin was added in 2015 and the tournament took place in 2013!
Incorrect Copies
Knives are rare and expensive items in their own right, but the ones discussed here are even more unique because they were the result of human error. Previously, if a user lost game items due to fraud, support did not transfer the lost skins to his account, but duplicated them manually.
