Valve has released a fix for the smoke grenade bug

On Monday, Valve released a fix for CS:GO that eliminated a smoke bug that caused outrage the day before. G2 player Ilya "monesy" Osipov used a technique on the Mirage map that made it possible to make the smoke screen placed by the enemy partially permeable. This is noticeable in the footage of the G2 vs Imperial match: when monesy throws a grenade, its area of effect overlaps with the enemy's screen, making it visible in one direction.

Even though tournament organizer PGL had previously explicitly approved the use of this type of smoke grenade, tournament participants, through the mediation of the CSPPA, agreed not to use it. Many agreed that such a mechanic should not exist in the game in principle, regardless of how it manifests itself. This is not the first time that a similar situation has arisen at a major, and the tournament participants have come to a gentleman's agreement. For example, in 2017 at PGL Krakow, players similarly agreed not to use the “jump bug” discovered by BIG during the competition.

Now Valve has released an update in record time that fixes this smoke grenade bug. It can be assumed that the remaining matches of the major will be played on the new version of the game, which means that it will not be able to appear either accidentally or intentionally.
