Virtus.pro, which competes in international tournaments under the name Outsiders, refused to participate in the European qualifying tournament for IEM Dallas 2022 due to problems with obtaining a visa. Their place will be taken by Apeks, which took a high position according to the results of the open qualification. This news is particularly disappointing for the CIS team as they were among the favorites and were considered highly likely to qualify for the next stage.
In addition, today information appeared that the Latvian e-sportsman Marek “YEKINDAR” Galinskis is considering the possibility of leaving Outsiders after the end of the major. In a recent interview, the head of Virtus.pro Sergey Glamazda mentioned that of all the players on the roster, YEKINDAR is in the most difficult position: he is from Latvia, and his opinion about what is happening in Ukraine differs from that common in Russia. Because of this, he faces a lot of pressure, but nevertheless continues to perform at a high level. YEKINDAR himself previously noted that he was considering moving to another team due to the fact that sanctions limit the ability of Outsiders/Virtus.pro to participate in competitions.
The IEM Dallas tournament is scheduled to take place between May 30 and June 5. Most of the competition participants have already been determined, and the last two teams will be selected based on the results of closed qualifications for the European region.
