Recently, the French team Vitality announced that the contract with its most famous player, Matthew "ZywOo" Erbo, will be extended until 2024. Portraits of the player were broadcast to famous Parisian landmarks in honor of this event.
Leader and one of the co-founders of the team Fabien “Neo” David said that the conclusion of this four-year contract required negotiations with the player’s agent, which lasted more than six months. At the same time, David evaluates cooperation with ZywOo very positively: “The other side is glad to participate in our project, and we are glad that we have the best player in the world.” I have nothing to complain about here! I'm glad that we understand each other." In an interview with the HLTV portal, Neo explained why he values the contract with ZywOo so much and how the team came to its current state.
Matthew Herbaugh got into Vitality when he was still a newbie – David recalls that, due to inexperience, the player initially asked for a much smaller amount than they expected to pay him. According to Neo, they already saw his potential and saw his willingness to develop.
At the beginning of 2020, the team faced difficulties even before the coronavirus pandemic began. After unsuccessful performances at BLAST Premier Spring and IEM Katowice, one of the players left Vitality, and they had to adapt to playing with a new lineup. Neo believes that the past year has yet to be analyzed, but we can already say that there were more successes for the team than failures. He expects that ZywOo and the rest of the players will be able to successfully prove themselves in 2021, overcoming new challenges.
