We Play! announced a new tournament for teams from the CIS countries, which will take place in mid-June. It was called Clutch Island. The main stage of the competition will take place from June 16 to 28. It will feature a total of $50,000 in prize money and points that will allow teams to rank higher in order to qualify for regional qualification for the ESL One: Rio Major. Five teams from the CIS will be able to take places on the list of invited participants in this competition.
The Clutch Island tournament will be held in three stages. Three open qualifying games will take place from June 8 to 10. Their winners will receive a place in the closed qualification. Here they will compete with several invited teams – most likely, if the list does not change, Nemiga, Gambit Youngsters, forZe and some others will be included. The winner will be determined by the results of the group stage, followed by a double elimination tournament.
Finally, the three best teams from the closed qualification will take part in the main stage, where their opponents will be Virtus.pro, Spirit, Natus Vincere and several other teams. The list of invited participants may still be expanded. The winner will receive $15,000 in prize money and 2,000 ranking points. The remaining awards will be distributed among the participants depending on their place in the top ten.
