
A well-known trader who dealt with cosmetic items in Counter Strike: Global Offensive lost all the property that was on his account. According to the owner, known under the nickname temp1eCS, the attackers took items worth about $150,000.
On his Twitter, he published a series of posts in which he spoke in detail about how this happened. According to him, a few days ago he was unable to log into his “investment” account. Steam account because someone changed the password. The phone number to which the account was linked also turned out to be broken, so temp1e was unable to use the Steam authenticator. He managed to restore access only after corresponding with technical support, after he proved that the account belonged to him. After logging in, he discovered that his inventory was completely empty.
The user suspects that the attackers used a SIM card replacement scam: it allowed them to create a duplicate number associated with the account and thus take control of it. Among the items that temp1e lost – rare souvenir sets, stickers from past majors and golden player autographs.
