What the ★ Paracord Knife | Stained looks like in Field-Tested

The tanto-style blade is light, and the steel has a blue cast. Dark blue blotches and rings fan out across the flat, like stains on old metal. A long slot is cut along the spine, and the blade frame is dark. The handle is wrapped in dense, sandy-gray cord, with a lanyard opening visible at the tail. Valve writes that the patina was applied by dripping lemon and mustard onto the surface.

In Field-Tested, wear marks on the edge and the tip of the blade are already noticeable. Wear is set at drop and does not grow later.

Where the ★ Paracord Knife | Stained came from

The paracord knife came out on November 19, 2019, together with Operation Shattered Web. Valve's note lists it among the four new knives of the Shattered Web Case, next to the Survival Knife, the Nomad Knife and the Skeleton Knife. The Fracture Case became the second case for this finish.

What to check before buying

When choosing a ★ Paracord Knife | Stained listing, this is what counts:

• float: the 0.15 to 0.38 stretch is long for this finish, and the extreme copies differ visibly;

• the dark rings on the blade and the cord on the handle: their condition shows in the listing screenshot;

• name tag: a paracord knife sometimes has a name already applied, and it comes with the purchase.

What the ★ Paracord Knife | Stained costs in Field-Tested

Among Covert-rank paracord knives, Stained in this wear sits in the middle of a ladder of thirteen: seven finishes cost less and five cost more. Boreal Forest, Urban Masked and Night Stripe are the nearest below. Crimson Web, Case Hardened and Slaughter take the top.

Between wears, the spread is as follows:

• Factory New is more than double the price;

• Minimal Wear is level;

• Well-Worn is a twentieth cheaper;

• Battle-Scarred is cheaper by the same share.
