Description

The AK-47 | Safari Mesh in Factory New (FN) is a sandy rifle with no bright spot and a very tight float band. In this wear it sits between 0.06 and 0.07, because the finish has no copies below 0.06. Industrial Grade rank, from the Dust 2 Collection.

What the AK-47 | Safari Mesh looks like in Factory New

The palette is a single tone: sandy and light olive khaki, with no bright colors. A fine mesh of hexagonal cells lies over the handguard, the receiver and the stock, and the barrel and the gas tube are kept in the same tone. Valve describes the finish as spray paint applied through chain-link fence and cardboard stencils.

Factory New shows the finish as it was designed: the paint is intact over the whole surface, and the edges of the cells are not rubbed off. The AK-47 | Safari Mesh here is a tight 0.06 to 0.07 band, where the difference between listings is hard to catch. What sets one copy from another is no longer wear but how the pattern landed.

Where the AK-47 | Safari Mesh came from

Valve drew the AK-47 | Safari Mesh itself, and there is no Steam Workshop submission for this finish. The Dust 2 Collection was released on November 27, 2013, and the skin has belonged to it from the start. In Valve's catalog the finish is number 72, within the first hundred.

Pattern and how it varies

The pattern is rolled, and this finish has pattern variants. Stencil painting lands with an offset, so copies differ not only in wear but in how the design sits. In Factory New the float is nearly the same on every listing. The one thing left to choose by eye is the layout of the mesh on the handguard, the receiver and the stock.

What to check before buying

Choosing a particular AK-47 | Safari Mesh comes down to these points:

  • the layout of the mesh in the listing image: where the cells run straight and where they slant;

  • the float: on any copy it lies between 0.06 and 0.07, so the number decides almost nothing;

  • the stickers and the name tag already on this AK-47 | Safari Mesh.

What the AK-47 | Safari Mesh costs in Factory New

The other wears, measured against this one:

  • Minimal Wear is more than thirty times cheaper;

  • Field-Tested is about thirty-eight times cheaper;

  • Well-Worn is about fifty times cheaper;

  • Battle-Scarred is about thirty-eight times cheaper.

The Factory New band takes up about one percent of the finish's scale: one hundredth out of 0.74. The other four wears share all the rest, and each costs tens of times less.

Among Industrial Grade AK-47 finishes, the AK-47 | Safari Mesh in this wear is third by price out of five. The AK-47 | Baroque Purple costs about nine times as much, and the AK-47 | Jungle Spray about thirty. VariCamo Grey and Olive Polycam are cheaper by more than fifteen times.

Getting the AK-47 | Safari Mesh

The finish has no ordinary case. Copies come from tournament Souvenir packages, thirteen in all, running from the DreamHack 2013 Souvenir Package to the Berlin 2019 package.

Ten skins of the next rank down from this collection turn into the AK-47 | Safari Mesh in a trade-up contract. The Dust 2 Collection has five Industrial Grade skins, so the chance is one in five. The skin works as an input too. Ten Industrial Grade skins of the collection yield one Mil-Spec skin, for example the PP-Bizon | Brass or the SG 553 | Damascus Steel.

StatTrak and Souvenir

No StatTrak version of the AK-47 | Safari Mesh was ever released, while a Souvenir variant exists.

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Safari Mesh

The single-tone sand body leaves room for both dark and bright stickers. Red and blue ones stand out most, while yellow and beige ones blend into the base. In Factory New there are no rubbed edges to get in a sticker's way, which makes it the cleanest of the five wears for a CS2 build.

Who this wear suits

The AK-47 | Safari Mesh is worth buying here, in Factory New, on these terms:

  • you want untouched mesh across the whole receiver;

  • a specific pattern layout matters more than the float number, since between 0.06 and 0.07 there is no difference;

  • a craft for CS2 calls for a clean sandy body.

If you want the mesh without a surcharge for cleanliness, look at Minimal Wear: it is more than thirty times cheaper.
