The AWP | BOOM in Field-Tested (FT) is a Classified AWP from The eSports 2013 Collection and the most worn of the three wears that exist. The float runs from 0.15 to 0.28. The skin drops from the eSports 2013 Case, and for CS2 it can be bought in three wears.
What the AWP | BOOM looks like in Field-Tested
In Valve's wording the finish is a hydrographic job, with a comic-book sound effect laid over an orange base. On the model itself the sound effect cannot be made out: a net of black cracks spreads across the orange field, with no letters among them. The rifle is available to both teams.
The float band for this wear of the AWP | BOOM lies between 0.15 and 0.28. Nothing exists above 0.28 on this finish, which is why Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred copies do not occur. The lower edge is trimmed as well: Factory New takes only the stretch from 0.06 to 0.07.
Where the AWP | BOOM came from
Valve itself drew the AWP | BOOM, and there is no Steam Workshop submission for this finish. The skin appeared on August 14, 2013, when The eSports 2013 Collection was added to the game. In Valve's catalog the finish is number 174.
What to check before buying
Before taking the AWP | BOOM, look at these points:
- the float: near the upper limit of 0.28 the wear is the heaviest of any wear of the skin;
- where the pattern sits on the body, which differs between copies;
- the stickers and name tag already on this copy of the AWP | BOOM;
- StatTrak: this AWP has a version with a counter, sold as a separate item.
Pattern variance on the AWP | BOOM
The pattern index moves the overlay of the artwork across the body, so copies differ in how the film landed. No named rare variants are listed for this finish in the sources. After the float, then, this is the listing's second parameter: compare where the pattern sits on the body.
What the AWP | BOOM costs in Field-Tested
The finish has three wears, and this is the cheapest of them:
- Factory New is more than four times the price;
- Minimal Wear costs about a sixth more.
Among Classified AWPs priced in this wear, only AWP | Silk Tiger costs more. The nearest one below, AWP | Redline, is two and a half times cheaper, and the other Classified AWPs fall lower still.
Getting the AWP | BOOM
The AWP | BOOM comes from the eSports 2013 Case, the only case with this finish. The other route is a trade-up.
A trade-up for the AWP | BOOM takes ten skins one rank lower from this set. It holds two Classified skins, the second being AK-47 | Red Laminate, so the chance is one in two. The rifle itself goes into the inputs of a contract for P90 | Death by Kitty.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The AWP | BOOM has a StatTrak™ version. Souvenir copies of the finish exist too, but no packages were released for it: they were made only for the map collections of tournaments. Such copies are built through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory.
Stickers and craft on the AWP | BOOM
The base is orange, so yellow and red stickers merge into it, while black, white and blue ones give contrast.
Who this wear suits
Buying the AWP | BOOM in Field-Tested makes sense under these conditions:
- you want an orange AWP from an older collection without paying extra for clean paint;
- you want to choose a copy by where the pattern sits, not only by float;
- wear up to 0.28 is acceptable, since the skin has no wears below Field-Tested.
Factory New costs more than four times as much, and Minimal Wear about a sixth more.
