Desert Eagle | Code Red (Factory New)

The Desert Eagle | Code Red in Factory New (FN) is the top step of the scale, with a float from 0.00 to 0.07. It is a Covert pistol from the Horizon Case, and both sides can use it. Each of the other four wears is more than three times cheaper.

What the Desert Eagle | Code Red looks like in Factory New

Valve describes the skin as a bright red base with white details. The red covers the slide and the top of the barrel, and a broad silver-white inlay with two black slots and the engraving Magnum Research Inc. runs along the side of the slide. The frame and grip stayed dark, an eagle mark is visible on the grip panel, and the magazine base is red again.

In Factory New the paint lies without chips, and the red on the smooth planes of the slide looks solid. The white inlay with its lettering reads in full. Wear is set at drop, so this look stays with the copy permanently, however long it sits in an inventory.

Where the Desert Eagle | Code Red came from

The finish was designed by DasDas. A Steam Workshop submission titled Desert Eagle "Aggressor" went in on April 9, 2017, with just two words in its description: "Code red". The Desert Eagle | Code Red was released on August 1, 2018, and in Valve's finish catalog it has number 711.

What to check before buying

What to compare on the Desert Eagle | Code Red:

• the float: the band from 0.00 to 0.07 is 7% of the scale, and there is little to choose between copies inside it;

• what the previous owner left on the Desert Eagle | Code Red, whether stickers or a name tag;

• the red plane of the slide, which on a factory-fresh copy has no chips.

There is no pattern lottery on the Desert Eagle | Code Red: all copies are identical.

What the Desert Eagle | Code Red costs in Factory New

The other wears of the skin are cheaper:

• Minimal Wear, by a factor of 3.35;

• Field-Tested, by a factor of 4.1;

• Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred, by a factor of 4.25.

Four Covert Desert Eagles have a price in this wear. One is cheaper and two are dearer: Desert Eagle | Ocean Drive costs about a fifth more, and Desert Eagle | Golden Koi a tenth more. Desert Eagle | Printstream is far lower, by about two and a half times.

Getting the Desert Eagle | Code Red

The source of the skin is the Horizon Case. The Desert Eagle | Code Red also comes out of a trade-up contract in which ten skins of the rank below were handed in from this collection. The collection has two Covert skins, so the odds of the one you want are one in two. The Covert rank also feeds a knife craft: Navaja Knife, Stiletto Knife, Talon Knife or Ursus Knife.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The Desert Eagle | Code Red has a StatTrak version. No souvenir packages were released for this finish: those were made only for the tournament map collections. Still, you can build a Souvenir copy yourself, since the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a regular skin from your inventory. That is why a few Souvenir copies occasionally turn up even where no packages ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the Desert Eagle | Code Red

The red plane of the slide is the largest on the pistol, and red stickers disappear on it. White ones give contrast, and black ones read on the silver inlay. The inlay with its engraving is better left open, as it is the only lettering on the skin.

Who this wear suits

Factory New is the right buy for the Desert Eagle | Code Red if:

• you want a red pistol for CS2 with not a single scratch on the slide;

• the Magnum Research Inc. engraving on the silver inlay matters to you;

• you are putting together a Horizon Collection set, with this skin as the top wear.
