Description

In Battle-Scarred (BS), the M4A1-S | Golden Coil is the cheapest of the five versions of this Covert skin. The gold is touched most here: float starts at 0.45 and runs to 1.00. The skin belongs to The Shadow Collection and plays on the Counter-Terrorist side.

What the M4A1-S | Golden Coil looks like in Battle-Scarred

The main color is gold with an orange cast. A quilted diamond pattern runs over the suppressor and the plate by the magazine well. The top of the receiver and the ribbed handguard are black, with gold rings, splashes and swirls lying on them. The stock is dark with a gold ornament, and the grip is cream.

In Battle-Scarred the gold dulls and in places gives way to gray metal. Any scuff on gold reads as a gray patch. The diamond facets on the suppressor go first, then the edge of the plate, the butt plate and the handguard ribs. The large gold panels on the sides last longer.

Where the M4A1-S | Golden Coil came from

Kitch.sb drew the skin. In the notes to the submission he writes that he updated the patina colors and made the battle scars more pronounced. The Shadow Collection came out in September 2015, and the M4A1-S | Golden Coil has been in the set since its release.

What to check before buying

Before taking an M4A1-S | Golden Coil, look at these points:

  • the float inside 0.45 to 1.00: the closer to 0.45, the more gold stays on the suppressor;

  • a name tag and stickers, if this M4A1-S | Golden Coil already carries them.

The float band of 0.45 to 1.00 covers more than half the scale. Across it the skin visibly changes, so pick a listing by its number. Listing to listing, the pattern comes out identical.

What the M4A1-S | Golden Coil costs in Battle-Scarred

The other wears cost more than Battle-Scarred:

  • Factory New by more than four times;

  • Minimal Wear by about three quarters;

  • Field-Tested by almost a third;

  • Well-Worn by about a tenth.

In this wear the skin is second from the bottom of ten Covert M4A1-S finishes: only Vaporwave is cheaper, by about a quarter. Player Two costs just a little more, while Mecha Industries, Chantico's Fire and Hyper Beast cost more than twice as much. At the top of the row, Cyrex and Welcome to the Jungle are several times dearer.

Getting the M4A1-S | Golden Coil

The Shadow Case holds the skin. A trade-up takes ten skins of the rank below from a single collection and returns an M4A1-S | Golden Coil. The Covert rank of this set also leads into a craft, and the special item it points to is the Shadow Daggers.

StatTrak and Souvenir

There is a StatTrak version of the M4A1-S | Golden Coil. Souvenir packages were not released for this finish, as they existed only for tournament map collections. A Souvenir copy can still be built through the Souvenir-O-Matic: it applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to a regular skin from your inventory.

Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Golden Coil

Gray patches on gold make the surface flicker. A sticker with a sharp outline gives the eye an anchor, since a black or white border plays down the scuffs around it. It sits best on the cream grip, where there is little pattern. The suppressor with its diamonds stays open, because the skin rests on it.

Who this wear suits

Battle-Scarred is worth taking for the M4A1-S | Golden Coil if:

  • you want a Covert M4A1-S with gold at the lowest price of the five wears;

  • worn gold is fine as part of the look;

  • the number on the float bar decides your pick, not the label of the wear.

In CS2 the wear makes no difference to play. If the gold should shine, look higher up: Minimal Wear costs about three quarters more.
