M4A1-S | Golden Coil (Minimal Wear)

The M4A1-S | Golden Coil in Minimal Wear (MW) costs less than half the Factory New price, and its gold still looks almost untouched. Copies carry a float from 0.07 to 0.15. The skin is Covert rank, from The Shadow Collection.

What the M4A1-S | Golden Coil looks like in Minimal Wear

Three parts carry the skin: a gold suppressor with a quilted pattern, a gold plate by the magazine well, and a black body with gold swirls. The stock is dark with a gold ornament, the grip is cream with speckles, and the ribbed handguard wears gold rings.

In Minimal Wear the first signs of use show on the raised facets of the quilting and on the edge of the plate, where light patches appear on the gold. The large flat panels on the sides stay even. A copy's float never changes.

Where the M4A1-S | Golden Coil came from

Kitch.sb is the author. The Workshop submission was titled "Snakebite M4A1-S | Gunsmith Gold (+normal)", and the author noted that the skin differs very little from the patina version. Its number in the Valve catalog is 497.

What to check before buying

Two things differ from one M4A1-S | Golden Coil listing to the next:

• the float inside the 0.07 to 0.15 band;

• stickers and a name tag left on the skin by its previous owner.

At 0.07 to 0.15 the band is tight, and copies give you little to choose between. Every M4A1-S | Golden Coil carries the same pattern.

What the M4A1-S | Golden Coil costs in Minimal Wear

Here is how the neighboring wears price against Minimal Wear:

• Factory New asks for more than double;

• Field-Tested is a quarter cheaper;

• Well-Worn is more than a third below;

• Battle-Scarred is cheaper by more than two fifths.

Among Covert M4A1-S finishes, only two sit below it in this wear: Player Two, about a third cheaper, and Vaporwave, about a sixth cheaper. Mecha Industries, Chantico's Fire and Hyper Beast cost a third more or beyond. Printstream costs almost three times as much, and Welcome to the Jungle more than ten times as much.

Getting the M4A1-S | Golden Coil

The skin drops from the Shadow Case. Ten skins from the rank below in this collection can be traded up into one M4A1-S | Golden Coil. It was released in September 2015.

StatTrak and Souvenir

A StatTrak version of the M4A1-S | Golden Coil exists. No Souvenir packages were ever issued for this finish, because those were made only for tournament map collections. You can still build a Souvenir copy yourself in the Souvenir-O-Matic, which applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to a regular skin from your inventory.

Stickers and craft on the M4A1-S | Golden Coil

The gold is still even here, so stickers sit on it as they would on a new skin. Dark and red stickers add contrast, while beige ones disappear. The grip and the stock suit a craft, and the quilted suppressor stays open.

Who this wear suits

Minimal Wear makes sense for the M4A1-S | Golden Coil when:

• you want a Covert M4A1-S with nearly whole gold but not the Factory New price;

• small light patches on the quilting facets are acceptable;

• you do not need the quarter discount that Field-Tested brings.

In CS2 the choice is purely visual: a skin's wear has no effect on shooting.
